Zero to Agent: The Google ADK Code Lab + Build Challenge

​We are moving past the AI hype and focusing on pure engineering. Join us for an intensive, 5-hour sprint where you will learn how to build, debug, and deploy production-ready AI agents using Google’s Agent Development Kit (ADK) and the Gemini API.

​Unlike a standard hackathon where you are left to figure things out on your own, this event is split into two phases: a deep-dive educational workshop led by AI experts, followed by a high-energy build challenge where you will put your new skills to the test.

​🧠 Part 1: The Code Lab (Workshop)
​During the first half of the event, we code together. You will go from a blank file to a fully functional AI agent. We will cover:

​The Fundamentals: Setting up your environment and instantiating your first LlmAgent using Python or TypeScript.

​Custom Tools: Teaching your agent how to interact with the outside world by connecting it to external APIs and databases.

​Memory & State: Giving your agent conversational memory so it can handle complex, multi-turn tasks.

​Graph Workflows: Upgrading from a single agent to a structured, multi-agent pipeline where specialized AI agents collaborate.

​⚡ Part 2: The Agentic Build Challenge
​Once the workshop concludes, the challenge begins. You will have exactly 2 hours and 15 minutes to build a custom AI agent that solves a real-world problem using the Google ADK framework.

​Challenge Acceptance Criteria:

​Must be built using the Google ADK framework.

​Must utilize the Gemini API as the core reasoning engine.

​Must implement at least one custom tool or multi-agent workflow.

​Projects will be judged on technical execution, reliability, and practical utility. The top teams will walk away with cash prizes, API credits, and exclusive swag!

​🎒 Prerequisites (What to bring)
​This is a technical, code-first event. To get the most out of it, please ensure you have:

​A laptop and charger.

​A code editor installed (VS Code, Cursor, etc.).

​Basic proficiency in either Python or Node.js/TypeScript.

​An active Google AI Studio account to generate your API keys.
